Bengaluru: Two killed in separate accidents

Bengaluru: Two people, including a 38-year-old woman, were killed while another got critically injured in separate road accidents in the city since Saturday night.
In the first incident, a 38-year-old woman, who was riding pillion, died on the spot while her daughter sustained injuries when a sand laden truck allegedly knocked down their scooter near B.K. Halli gate junction on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jayanthi, a resident of Chikkajala. The incident happened around 9 am when she was returning home from the church with her daughter Lavanya, a PU student.
Police said the sand laden lorry was being driven in a rash manner, which hit the bike. Passersby informed the police and rushed the victims to nearby hospital, where Jayanthi was declared brought dead. The driver of the lorry fled after abandoning the vehicle.
In another incident, an unidentified person was knocked down by a speeding trailer lorry near K.R. Puram railway station on Saturday night. The person was aged about 30 years and reportedly in an inebriated state. The incident happened while he was crossing the road. Passersby alerted the police, who shifted him to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The lorry driver, Vadivelu, was arrested and the vehicle was seized.
