Veteran Professor Raveendranath felicitated

Professor Raveendranath emphasised the need for knowledge in improving one’s life.

KOLLAM: Veteran academician N. Raveendranath, a professor of English literature in various SN Trust institutions for three decades, was honoured by former students and staff at the Kollam public library hall here on Saturday.

Kollam mayor V. Rajendrababu inaugurated the function presided over by Dr J. Alexander IAS while former finance minister C.V. Padmarajan delivered the keynote address.

“It was Raveendranath sir who made me what I am today. We were the first batch of BA English at the SN College here, and the batch was allotted by R. Sankar,” remembered Dr Alexander.

Mr Padmarajan said it was the relationship of seven decades with the professor who “remains a friend, philosopher, and guide” to him.

In his speech, Professor Raveendranath emphasised the need for knowledge in improving one’s life.

“Three things necessary for a person are health, wealth and books. Now, even the teachers are not willing to research and update their knowledge,” he added.

He had also served as the principal of Nangiarkulangara TKMM College, SN College Varkala, and Kollam SN College.
