Bengaluru: As the countdown begins for New Year, Bengalurueans are heading towards their favourite tourist destinations within the country and abroad to usher in 2016. Beaches and places of scenic beauty top their wish list and many have chalked out their travel plans in September itself to avail discounts. Thailand, Dubai and Europe are the hot international destinations, while within India it is Goa.
Shailesh Kumar, who recently got married, is excited about the forthcoming trip to Thailand. He said, “My wife and I need this much needed break and we are going to Thailand for the night-life and parties.” People have booked tickets way back in September and October, as ticket prices surge in December. “The tickets, which were earlier was priced Rs 22,000, is now somewhere at Rs 55,000 for the same date,” said Girish, who is going to Europe alone. While Bengalureans are busy completing their to-do list, the story is no different for the city’s travel agents. Sayed from Akbar travels told Deccan Chronicle, “This time around couples have already booked tickets for Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai. Among domestic destinations Goa tops the list. All the lodges at these places got booked in September and October, as people have made use of very good deals.”
He pointed that the agency has booked travels for over 1,000 passengers for December. “People also prefer Sri Lanka, but the hotspots are Thailand, Dubai and Europe,” he added. Another travel agent from Ejipura said, “Many have booked tickets for Dubai to be there for the shopping festival, which starts from January 31. “Thailand is known for its islands and what better timing can it be but this December. We have been planning the for last three months and the best part is that deal is pocket-friendly,” said Harish M.V. from Mahadevapura.
