Report sought on encroachment by actor Jayasurya

Thrissur: Acting on a complaint, the Thrissur Vigilance Court has asked the Kochi Corporation secretary to submit a report on the alleged encroachment of the Chilavanoor river at Elamkulam village at Kochu Kadavanthara by actor Jayasurya by January 6.
The complainant, in his prayer, said that on February 28, 2014, the corporation had issued an order to the actor that his reply to the civic body on this matter was not satisfactory and the private boat jetty and the fencing constructed near his house were in violation of section 557 of the Kerala Municipal Act and the same need to be demolished at his own cost within 14 days of receiving the order.
Kalamassery-based activist Gireesh Babu, who moved the court, said he had asked the court to register a vigilance case against the former corporation secretary, former and present assistant executive engineers of the civic body, Kanayannoor head taluk surveyor for dereliction of duty. In this plaint, the actor is the fifth respondent.
