No proposal for any airport in Warangal: Ashok Gajapati Raju
Karimnagar: Union civil aviation minister P. Ashok Gajapati Raju said that an airport would be constructed at Kothagudem in Khammam district soon, while there was no proposal for an airport in Warangal city. He was speaking to the media after visiting an old-age home Itikyala village of Raikal mandal on Sunday.
Mr Raju said that the airports would be granted to any state soon after receiving requisition. “State governments play a vital role in building airports. Proposals were sent demanding an airport in Kothagudem. Therefore, steps are being taken to establish the airport in the town,” he said.
Replying to a question, the Union minister clarified that no request was made for an airport in Warangal. He said that the Centre was implementing various insurance schemes for the welfare of people at cheaper rates, and more schemes would be introduced in the future.
The police department has decided to withdraw gunman facility to inspectors soon. The facility for sub-inspectors was withdrawn two years ago. The police department had provided gunmen to officers of S-I and higher rank during peak Naxal movement.
