Mitra saves dying woman

Madivala police volunteer helps victim get medical treatment, files police plaint.
BENGALURU: For Kavitha, a 31-year-old lecturer, it was a usual working day on Thursday, until she encountered a woman in a BMTC bus, who had wrapped herself in shawl with blood stains all over her clothes. When Kavitha checked on her she was shocked to find the woman had multiple stab injuries on her neck, back and abdomen. Kavitha immediately informed the Area Suraksha Mitra in Madivala and took the woman to Victoria Hospital.
It was a classic example of police-public partnership and being a community policing member Kavitha not only helped the police in registering the case, but took the injured woman to Victoria Hospital. Kavitha resides in Teacher’s Colony in HSR Layout near Silk Board junction and commutes daily by bus to Malleswaram. Kavitha told Deccan Chronicle, “As the bus moved around 7.45 am, I noticed a woman sitting on the front seat wrapped in a blood-stained shawl. She had covered her face and body up till her knees. I felt something amiss and approached a profusely bleeding woman and asked her if she needs help. The scared injured woman didn’t say anything and chose to remain quiet till I made her feel at ease. After sometime, the woman opened up and narrated the horror story to me.”
“The victim, Pramila, 30, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had just come to the city 10 days ago along with her husband Pasha and two daughters. She was living in M.S. Palya in Vidyaranyapura. Her abusive husband used to harass and beat her after coming home in an inebriated state. On Wednesday night too, Pasha came home around 10.30 pm and picked up a quarrel with Pramila. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a knife and stabbed her thrice leaving her critically injured on the floor. The entire night Primila lay on the floor bleeding profusely and could gather courage the next day to reach the nearby bus stand to got to her hometown,” Kavitha added.
Without any delay, Kavitha alighted from the bus with Pramila and immediately rang up the police control room, but in vain as no one responded her call. Then she sought the help of nearest police station in Kalasipalya and told them about the incident. She then took the injured woman to Victoria Hospital in an auto-rickshaw and contacted another Area Suraksha Mitra, Kiran from Madivala, who informed the police and rushed to the spot.
The Madivala police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab Pasha, who is currently on the run. Kavitha was rewarded for her indomitable spirit and noble work by Madivala police.
