Chief secretary Jiji Thomson: Kerala ready for National School Games in January
Kozhikode: Kozhikode is all set to host the 61st national schools athletics meet even as the final decision on Kerala hosting the event is expected on Tuesday.
Chief secretary Jiji Thomson made the announcement after holding preliminary discussions with the local administration in the city on Saturday. He said CM Oommen Chandy had written to the sports ministry and that he had also discussed with national sports secretary about the state's willingness to host the event that had been moved out of Maharashtra.
The conditions put forth by the state government are that the meet must be held in the last week of January and that the central government must give financial assistance. A meeting of ministers would be held on Tuesday in this regard.
