Hyderabad: A 13-month-old girl was allegedly killed by her father in Medak district on Saturday. Durgaiah throttled his daughter Saroja while his wife and two elder daughters went out to answer nature’s call. He was depressed as he had no sons.
Police said that Durgaiah, a daily wager and Laxmi were staying at Bilalpur village in Medak district.
The couple has two daughters. But Durgaiah, who was addicted to alcohol, wanted a son. Thirteen months ago, Laxmi gave birth to Saroja. After that Durgaiah went into depression and started quarrelling with his wife.
On Friday night, he came home drunk and quarrelled with Laxmi for not giving birth to a son. On Saturday morning Laxmi and her two daughters went out to answer nature's call. She left Saroja at home as she was sleeping and Durgaiah was also asleep.
“When she returned, she found Saroja dead with marks on her throat,” police said. When asked, Durgaiah ran away. A murder case was registered against Durgaiah.
