'Beep' Song row: Simbu seeks 1 month time to appear before police
The summons had been handed over on December 14 to the actor's father in Chennai.
Mumbai: Tamil film actor Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, asked to appear before police in Coimbatore on Saturday for an inquiry for allegedly singing the 'Beep Song' which denigrates women, sought one month time for appearance.
Police on Saturday said his father T Rajendran had written a letter to them, requesting postponement of questioning to another day. The summons had been handed over on December 14 to the actor's father in Chennai.
Simbu and 'Kolaveri Di' fame music composer R Anirudh have landed themselves in trouble for allegedly singing and composing music for the video "Beep Song" with highly objectionable references to women. Police had also filed a case against them on a complaint. Anirudh had denied composing the song, while Simbu had said that it was not released officially and claimed that it was for his private consumption.
Meanwhile, Anirudh in a letter to police reiterated that he has not composed the song and requested that the case against him be withdrawn, they said.
"It is neither my composition nor my lyrics and I am not the singer," he said and sought to revocation of the case against him, two lawyers representing Anirudh, who is now in Canada, said.
