Dilwale ruling hearts now, but Bajirao set to fight back next week

PVR had better box office collection for Bajirao on first 2 days, despite having lesser shows.
BENGALURU: Bollywood witnessed one of the biggest clashes in recent years this Friday as the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani went head to head with Dilwale, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. City multiplexes recorded good collections from both the movies. Cinepolis, Bannerghatta Road have 10 shows for Bajirao Mastani and 12 for Dilwale for the weekend. So far, Dilwale has had a better response than Bajirao, selling 1,900 tickets on Friday, as opposed to Bajirao’s 1,300.
Both movies ran with around 80 per cent occupancy till afternoon and recorded houseful shows evening onwards with 100 per cent bookings for Sunday shows. However, sources at Cinepolis said they expect Bajirao Mastani to do better as the week progresses. Gopalan Cinemas too are screening both the movies six shows each per day and Dilwale is faring better than Bajirao. Dilwale has been sold out all of Friday and bookings for Sunday are also full. They expect Dilwale to do better than Bajirao in the coming week.
However, PVR Cinemas has recorded a better box office collection for Bajirao on the first two days, despite having lesser number of shows than Dilwale. Out of the six PVR multiplexes in Bengaluru, five of them have more shows for Dilwale. Despite this, Bajirao Mastani shows have been largely housefull, whereas Dilwale recorded 80-85% occupancy. “Advance booking for Sunday also reveal the popularity of Bajirao Mastani, as several evening shows are fully booked compared with Dilwale, for which seats are vacant,” an official from PVR Cinemas told Deccan Chronicle.
Both movies have had a good response overall, but it remains to be seen which will record higher box office collections for the week, as both are equally popular with the audiences.
