National Pool Championships: Himanshu Jain, Lucky Vatnani in quarters
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Himanshu Jain and Lucky Vatnani made it to the quarterfinals in the men’s category at the 9-ball National Pool Championships being played at the Inorbit Mall in the city on Friday.
In the pre-quarterfinal, Himanshu defeated Laxman Rawat of Railways 10-5 while Lucky outshone Delhi’s Monu Chowdary 10-6. In another match, former India No.1 Khizar Raoof of Telangana went down to Chandigarh'’ Sumit Talwat 5-10.
In the women’s category, Lahri S. was the lone woman cueist from the state to make it to the last-eight round, defeating statemate K. Bhavana 5-1 while Karnataka’s Indira Gowda edged past Dr Akansha Singh 5-3.
Earlier in the qualifying stage, Rajani Devi of Andhra Pradesh beat Telangan’s Akansha 5-2 while Indira got the better of Andhra’s Sasikala 5-1.
