Kochi: Kochi is gearing up for the two-day people against fascism meet to be held on Saturday and Sunday. The meet is also expected to launch a new chapter in the history of public protest in the state with dancing and singing dominating the action. The meet will begin with Freedom Walk from Rajendra Maidan to High Court Jn led by MB Rajesh MP and VS Sunil Kumar MLA.
In the midst of the walk celebrities are expected to enthrall the participants with flash mob type performances. People representing dalits, sexual minorities and adivasis will be taking part in the march.
Sunil P Ilayidom will present the approach paper of the struggle against fascism at the culmination of the freedom walk at the High Court Jn.
On Sunday noted scientist P.M. Bhargava will inaugurate the people against fascism convention at the Town Hall. Noted writers Anand, Satchidanandan, Meena Kandasamy, Leena Manimekhala, and several others will attend the ession.
Abhay Sahu, a leader of anti-Posco agitation in Odisha will inaugurate the public meeting in the evening.
CPM leader M.A. Baby, CPI leader Kanam Rajendran, Shanimol Usman and several others will address the meeting. The Town Hall will also witness dance performance led by actor Reema Kallingal.
