Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran on Friday sought a high-level probe into the ‘letter bomb’ allegedly sent by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala to the Congress high command containing charges against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Mr Sudheeran also said that the government can decide the agency for the probe to find out who wrote the letter and who leaked it.
Mr Sudheeran made the demand after Mr Chennithala said the letter was not written by him and that it was fabricated.
The KPCC also censured PCC vice-president Lali Vincent and INTUC state president R. Chandrashekaran for reacting without knowing the full facts about the letter.
Mr Chennithala denied sending a letter to the high command, which was exposed on Thursday, and wanted a probe to find out who was behind the letter.
The high command had already started a probe, he said. “I will speak about the issue at the right time. I have my own opinions. I know how to send a letter to the high command. I had faced many bad experiences while I was the KPCC chief. I don’t want to shine in front of the media or in public places. Political issues have to be resolved politically, Mr Chennithala said.
As the letter controversy intensified, Mr Chennithala left for Delhi on Friday to meet the high command and hold talks with Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday.
Earlier, Mr Chennithala was to visit Delhi along with Mr Oommen Chandy. Mr Sudheeran would also go to Delhi on December 22 to meet the national leaders.
