Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation
KOLLAM: A CBI team on Thursday questioned the petitioner in the corruption case against the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) at its head office in Mundakkal. The sleuths mainly probed its illegal dealings in procuring cashew from the controversial JMJ Cashew Traders.
According to the petitioner Kadakampally Manoj, 72 to 100 per cent of the procured cashew over the last few decades was from the controversial company.
“The corporation dealt with JMJ in three instances which I have disclosed to the CBI. One was when the company quoted the lowest rate during the tender process. The second was when it did not quote the lowest rate and the third was even when they did not participate in the bidding process at all,” Mr Manoj told DC.
The CBI is currently conducting the preliminary inquiry after which it will file an FIR in the court. The reports of the C&AG, RIAB, the finance department and the expert committee appointed by the government had pointed at the corruption, apart from a report by additional chief secretary K.M. Abraham.
The CBI will thus inquire about all the financial deeds of the corporation since 2005. Meanwhile, there is also another petition with the Vigilance that it procured low-quality raw cashew from JMJ for an amount of Rs 24.4 crore from the '30 crore sanctioned by the government recently .
