Bengaluru: Alert public nab woman chain snatcher
Tried to rob an 80-yr-old woman by throwing chilli powder.
Bengaluru: In two separate incidents alert public chased and nabbed chain snatchers, including a woman, in K G Nagar and Chamarajapet police station limits since Wednesday. In the first incident the public chased and nabbed a woman chain snatcher, identified as Eshwari (27), while she was trying to rob an elderly woman in K G Nagar police station limits.
Police said the incident happened around 4 pm on Wednesday when Annapoornamma, 80, was walking in front of her house in Raghavendra Colony. Eshwari approached her on the pretext of enquiring an address. She threw chilli powder on her face, threatened her at knife point and snatched her gold chain, weighing nine grams and worth Rs 20,000. As she tried to escape, the victim raised an alarm. The public chased and nabbed Eshwari and alerted the police, who later arrested her.
“Eshwari is a resident of K P Agrahara and had gone to jail for committing theft in Kamashipalya police station limits. She was released on bail in September and this is her second offence,” the police added. The K G Nagar police, who have recovered the gold chain and registered a case.
In the second incident reported near a bus stop in Chamarajpet second stage, Salman Pasha, 20, was nabbed and beaten up by the public after he tried to snatch a mobile phone from a woman, around 8 am on Thursday.
Police said that Kavyashree, a resident of Chamarajpet, was on way to her office in Koramangala. While she was walking towards the bus stop, Pasha snatched her phone and escaped. As Kavyashree raised an alarm, an alert public chased and nabbed him. He was thrashed by the public before being handed over to the police. “Pasha is a lorry cleaner and addicted to drugs. It is suspected that he was involved in other theft cases and it is being investigated,” the police added.
