Kohli beats Sachin, Dhoni, becomes most searched athlete on Google in 2015
Mumbai: Virat Kohli has added another feather to his cap. Team India’s Test skipper topped the list for the most searched sportsperson on Google India in 2015.

Kohli, who took over Test captaincy after MS Dhoni’s sudden retirement from the longer format of the game in Adelaide last year, is just ahead of Barcelona star Lionel Messi in the top 10 dominated by Indians in the list released by Google on Wednesday.
Although Kohli didn’t win his four matches as skipper, the Delhi-born lad proved his mettle when he led the Indian team to a historic series win against Sri Lanka, not forgetting the recent 3-0 win at home against South Africa.

Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar, who recently was seen on the cricket match during the Cricket All-Stars match in November, occupies the third place. Team India’s ODI and T20 skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in at No 4.
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo rounds off the top five. The year 2015 has not been a great one for tennis star Roger Federer. However, despite the odds against him, he is still the highest-ranked tennis player in the list at No 6.
India’s Sania Mirza, who is the only non-cricketer in the list is at No 7. Mirza capped off 2015 with two Grand Slam doubles titles along with her partner Martina Hingis and a total of nine titles overall in the calendar year.

Sania is followed by two more Indian cricketers in Rohit Sharma, who recently got married to longtime girlfriend Ritika Sajdeh and Yuvraj Singh, who occupy the eighth and ninth spots respectively ahead of world No 1 Novak Djokovic.
