Lalit Modi returns, but Board keeps Rajasthan CA at bay
New Delhi: Rajasthan Cricket Association will continue to be suspended by the BCCI after former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi returns as president of the RCA. According to a report in ANI, Modi will continue to remain president of the RCA after BJP leader Amin Pathan withdrew his no-confidence motion against the former on Tuesday.
RCA vice-president Pathan withdrew the motion before retired Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra just after nine months when he had ousted Modi by way of a no-confidence motion.
The RCA has always seen a power struggle within both the Modi and Amin faction with dramatic twists and turns in the last two years. Nine months ago, BJP leader and RCA vice-president Pathan served a no-confidence motion against Modi and his faction. The former official has now done a U-turn in front of a retired judge to pave the way for Modi’s return.
According to reports, Pathan said his action was “in the interest of cricket in Rajasthan,” but has also hinted at political pressure. The BCCI will not pay any heed to Modi’s return after Board led by former President N Srinivasan suspended Rajasthan for electing the banned Modi as its president. The BCCI formed an ad-hoc committee to run the RCA’s cricket affairs. Pathan was serving as the ‘acting’ RCA president till Tuesday’s ‘compromise.’
