Telangana government told to fill up 400 backlog posts

Commission recommends recruitment in minority department.
Hyderabad: The State Minorities Commission for AP and Telangana on Wednesday recommended that the Telangana government take up recruitments for more than 400 backlog vacancies in the minority departments including the Wakf Board, Haj Committee, Urdu Academy and the Minority Welfare Department.
Abid Rasool Khan, chairman of the Commission, said that neither the Congress nor the Telugu Desam governments had taken up any recruitment in the past 20 years in the department of minorities so far.
He said the committee, after collecting data from the departments, has suggested that the government take up a special recruitment drive to fill up backlog vacancies after notifying the new cadre strength as per the current requirements and work load that will be needed.
Stating that the government has already notified the vacancies as per four per cent reservation to Muslims in the notification that was issued recently for various jobs, Mr Rasool Khan added and informed that the Commission has also suggested to the government to notify the backlog vacancies in various other departments in accordance with the four per cent reservations and take up recruitment.
Allowance to Mouzams, Imams:
Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have decided to pay monthly honorarium to Mouzams and Imams, said the State Minorities Commission on Wednesday. Chairman of the Commission Mr Abid Rasool Khan said on Wednesday, “While the Telangana State government has agreed to pay a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000 to Mouzams and Imams with a budget of Rs 12 crore and a cap of 5,000 applications, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced payment of Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000.”
The last date for filing applications with district minorities’ welfare officers is December 30. He added, “The Commission expresses its appreciation for both the state governments and recommends to the Telangana State government to enhance the honorarium amount to a minimum of Rs 5,000 from the next financial year of 2015-16.” The Commission had conducted a socio-economic survey of Mouzams and Imams in the two states, during which applications were collected from about 8,000 mosques and recommendations were made to both governments to pay the honorarium.
