Revive rain hit industrial units, says BJP

BJP leaders are likely to take up the issue of extending sops to the affected SSIs with its party high command.

Chennai: The BJP, which was the first to raise the issue of unregulated development near water bodies and rampant encroachments on the waterways during the massive inundation has turned its focus on highlighting the plight of the industrial units devastated by the recent floods.

“The industrial units, ravaged by the floods, are unable to recommence the operation and some of them are not in a position to pay salaries to their employees,” claims BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan who visited the small scale industrial units ravaged by the floods at Guindy, Pallavaram and Jafferkhanpet.
She has sought the state government to unveil a special package to revive the affected industrial units.

BJP state vice president Vanathi Srinivasan who also visited the affected units, said the industrial units had incurred huge losses. According to sources, the state BJP leaders are likely to take up the issue of extending sops to the affected SSIs with its party high command.
