Kottayam: One person was found dead with burn injuries from an explosion inside his house at TV Puram near Vaikom Wednesday morning. The victim, identified as Raju, 48, of Palliprathusserry Chittettu, committed suicide, the police said. The deceased had also tried to finish off the family of his neighbors, Ramachandran and Maniyappan, living in nearby houses, the police said.
Raju placed unplugged LPG gas cylinders with outlets to the kitchens of the adjacent houses to increase the impact of the explosion. He also tried to pass on electricity from his house to the house of Ramachandran through a wire he placed.
There were nine members of the two families. Raju was residing here after the suicide of his wife and two children jumping before the train three years ago. Police said Raju, a painter, was having a personal rivalry with the neighbours, and he used to threaten them. He believed the neighbours drove his wife and two children into suicide.
