Leopard scare grips 2 villages
Villagers sighted a leopard on the prowl in the area.
Hyderabad: A leopard scare has gripped the people of two villages in Tekmal and Kulcharam mandals in Medak after villagers sighted a leopard on the prowl in the area. The two villages are located close to each other but separated by a stream. While forest officials did not yet have a direct sighting of the leopard, they found a pug mark of the leopard in Tekmal. An official said the same leopard must be moving around in both these villages.
To prevent untoward incidents, a team of forest officials will be camping in an area close to these villages. Cages have also been set up to trap the animal. The forest official said the Hyderabad zoo has also been alerted about this and a team from the zoo would arrive in Medak Thursday to tranquilize the leopard, if required.
