Governor Sathasivam bats for healthy rivalry among universities

The award carries cash prize of Rs 5 crore

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor P. Sathasivam who is also Chancellor of 13 universities, said the award for best university was instituted with the aim of nurturing spirit of healthy competition among varsities.

He was speaking after giving away the Chancellors Award for best university to Kerala University Vice Chancellor P.K. Radhakrishnan at a function here on Wednesday. The award carries cash prize of Rs 5 crore.

Sathasivam said that such competitions would make universities vibrant centres of learning. “Taking note of the fact that no universities in India are coming within the top 100 universities in the international level we decided to institute this award called Chancellors Award,” he said.
