Mysuru: In a rare case, a baby boy was born without a face, eyes, nose, mouth or ears at Chaluvamba Hospital here on Wednesday.
The baby was born to Sowmya, wife of Shivanna, a native of Himmaavu Hundi in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district.
Sowmya who was admitted to Chaluvamba Women and Children Hospital on Saturday, gave birth to twin baby boys on Wednesday. The babies were reportedly delivered via a Cesarean operation.
The infant who was born without a face, died a short while later. The other baby boy has been kept in the neonatal intensive care unit of Chaluvamba Hospital, sources said. With the news about the birth of the strange baby spreading, several people gathered to see the infant.
