Hyderabad: Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma on Tuesday told the police to use the latest technology to improve their functioning. He was speaking at the launch of a video conferencing facility at the Hyderabad police commissionerate. “Any officer from Hyderabad can directly communicate with officers anywhere in India whose PS is connected to the NIC network. This will help speed up investigation in cases the accused are from other states,” said Mr Sharma.
The facility connects 145 locations across Hyderabad including 60 law and order police stations, zones, traffic and other wings of the department. The facility, set up with the help of NIC, enables top officers to communicate directly with junior personnel. The facility allows officers in different areas to conduct a conference with their teams. The application is accessible on smart phones, laptops and computers.
It also allows officers to monitor events in the city from their offices. "This will help an officer to give immediate instructions after analysing the situation, which helps minimise response time," said police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy.
