Tamil Nadu government sanctioned Rs 50 crore for repairing roads, bridges

Also stated that all temporary repairing work would be completed in 30 days.
Chennai: The state government has sanctioned Rs 50 crore for carrying emergency repairing works on state highways roads and small bridges, damaged during the recent floods.
The state highways department, in a press release, has stated that a GO to this effect was passed. Of the Rs 50 crore, the government has earmarked Rs 12 crore each for Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur and Cuddalore districts, Rs 6 crore for Chennai and Rs 8 crore for other 8 districts. The work would be taken up on war-footing.
The state government has stated that all temporary repairing work would be completed in 30 days. Similarly, the state highways has taken up repairing of four major bridges connecting Thiruthani-Nagalapuram, Kanakammachathiram-Thakkolam, Koratur-Thinnur-Periyapalamay and Kanchipuram-Vandavasi. These works would be completed in 45 days.
Repairing of causeway in Irumbulicherry village in Kanchipuram district will be completed on Tuesday. Repairing of another damaged bridge on Poonamalle-Avadi, Tiruvallur district, has been underway and works will be completed shortly. This will benefit over 1 lakh people residing in the surrounding villages.
The state highways department also stated that a team comprising 41 assistant engineers, 69 road inspectors and 850 state highways workers has completed repairing 570 km long roads damaged in flood, in Chennai, Kancipuram, Thiruvallur and Cuddalore districts.
