Contributions to Tamil Nadu flood relief crosses Rs 100 crore mark

The total fund collected stood at Rs 111.8 crore, says an official release.

Chennai: The contributions for undertaking relief and rehabilitation work in flood affected areas of Tamil Nadu crossed the Rs 100 crore mark with several individuals and corporates joining in from Tuesday.

The total contributions from various agencies received by the State government today was Rs 12.31 crore. With the contributions collected, the total fund collected stood at Rs 111.8 crore, an official release said.

Private sector Karur Vysya Bank's Managing Director K Venkatraman gave away Rs 3 crore, including a day's salary of the bank's employees, to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat here.

Managing Director of Chettinad Group firm Chettinad Cements, M A M R Muthiah, presented cheque of Rs three crore, Coimbatore-based Lakshmi Machine Works' Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu handed over Rs two crore, Sakthi Masala Pvt Ltd's Managing Director P C Duraiswamy gave away Rs one crore.

Nissan Motor India, Operations-President, Guillaume Sicard presented Rs one crore, followed by GRT Jewellers Director, G R Anandapadmanabhan's Rs one crore.

Coimbatore-based P S Govindaswamy Naidu and Sons, Managing Trustee L Gopalakrishnan presented Rs one crore while, NAC Jewellers MD Anandapadmanabhan presented Rs 25 lakh.
