‘For f***’s sake,’ says Lionel Messi to his critics

The football star says he doesn’t need to sing the national anthem to feel it

Buenos Aires: Argentina star footballer Lionel Messi isn’t happy with his own people. The striker recently slammed his critics who, according to reports, were unhappy with his decision to not sing the national anthem.

Messi – also a star player for Barcelona – reached two finals with Argentina in the last two years but lost both including the World Cup in 2014.

But the 28-year-old is frustrated with people who criticised his performances with the national team.

He said that he gets annoyed when people tell the team to put in more effort and accuse them of not giving importance to the shirt.

“We were lucky enough to get to the final of the World Cup and the Copa America (lost to Chile) and it seems like we didn't do anything. We got to two finals, for f***'s sake," he fired in an interview with TyC Sports .

Talking about the national anthem, he said he will not sing it on purpose and he does not need to sing it to feel it.

"It reaches me, every person feels it in their own way. The Pumas cry, they feel it differently and that's ok.”
