Senior inspector hits woman over water

Cop attacks woman with hammer on the head, booked.

Hyderabad: An argument over a water connection in an apartment on Sunday led to a cop allegedly hitting his neighbour with a hammer on her head.

An argument broke out between inspector Srinivas and his neighbour Rajender Reddy, which led to Mr Srinivas allegedly attacking Mr Rajender’s wife Ms Suchitra.

However, Mr Srinivas said that his neighbours had lodged a false complaint against him. He said that they were keeping a dog in the common area of the apartment, which was harmful for the other residents.

Mr Kumar, an inspector at the Asif Nagar Traffic Police station, lives in the four-storied Aliveni Apartments in Anand Nagar colony in Khairatabad. He lives on the second floor while the neighbours are in the penthouse.

A few days ago, Ms Suchitra and her husband Mr Rajender Reddy had an argument with the other flat owners, regarding a pipe connection others were planning from the overhead tank.

Due to this, the residents lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the couple were not allowing them to take their share of water. Later, they compromised and agreed for a pipeline from the tank for all the residents.

Sunday being a holiday, they had planned to fix the connection, during which an argument broke out. “While I was talking to them, he suddenly came with a hammer and hit me on my head.” said Ms Suchitra in her complaint.

Meanwhile, Mr Srinivas Kumar denied the charges saying that she had lodged a complaint thinking that the case would be strong if a woman lodged it.

“Knowing clearly and continuously telling others about how to handle women and how difficult it is if a person is caught doing any mischief against them, how can I do such thing?” questioned Mr Srinivas, adding that they had a grudge on him, as he had complained to the GHMC about their dog which they let lose in the common area.

Based on a complaint from Mr Suchitra, a case has been registered.
