No builders for flyovers in Hyderabad

Contractors want the government to acquire over 580 private properties.

Hyderabad: There are no takers for the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government’s infrastructure projects like construction of 20 skyways, multilevel flyovers and multigrade separators worth Rs 21,000 crore even after tenders were called twice since August this year.

Contractors want the government to acquire over 580 private properties first along the main junctions and roads in core areas of the city before finalising the tenders. The project is part of the TRS government’s ambitious plan to transform Hyderabad into a “global city” by the 2019 general elections.

While the TRS has put up hoardings across the city in the run-up to the GHMC elections highlighting the proposed projects to ease traffic congestion on city roads, the state hasn’t been able to finalise even the tenders for the first phase of works costing Rs 2,630 crore in five packages.
