Freezing cold sweeps parts of Haryana and Punjab, mercury falls
Chandigarh: Freezing cold on Monday gripped many parts of Haryana and Punjab as temperatures dipped further, with Narnaul recording the lowest temperature in the two states at 2 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, Narnaul reeled under biting cold, recording a low of 2 degrees Celsius, five notches below the normal level. Icy cold winds also swept Hisar in Haryana, where the minimum temperature settled at 3.4 degrees Celsius five notches below normal.
Karnal, too, was in the grip of severe cold conditions at 4.2 degrees, down four degrees. Ambala's low settled at 8.8 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature at Chandigarh also dipped further since yesterday to settle at 7.8 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a 3.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.
Ludhiana recorded a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius, down two degrees while Patiala registered 7.6 degrees.
During the past few days, the day temperatures too have registered a downward trend at most places in Haryana and Punjab, settling in the range of 16-20 degrees Celsius
