Ensure safety of all women, says Kavitha
Hyderabad: The dream of Bangaru Telangana cannot be fulfilled without ensuring the safety of women, TRS MP K. Kavitha said here on Sunday. The safety of women is impossible if cops are not alert, she said during the first anniversary celebrations of Cyberabad SHE teams.
The government will equip the police with all facilities to ensure women's safety, she added, pointing out that the SHE teams were the first of their kind in the country.
The SHE teams were allowing women to raise their voice against atrocities, she said, adding, “Even today there is a notion that it's the mistake of a woman if they complain of any problem. This should change.”
Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand said Cyberabad had become a symbol for women's safety across the globe and any small incident in the IT corridor attracted the attention of the whole world. “We are taking strict action against those who harass women. We will counsel them twice. If they continue we will book them under the Preventive Detention Act,” said Mr Anand.
Film actor and former MLA Jayasudha Kapoor said she was harassed in side a bus when she was only 12.
