BS Yeddyurappa: Cash-rich class forcing their entry into Legislative Council
State government has declared a total of 135 taluks drought-hit.
Davangere: Making a frank admission, BJP national vice president and former chief minister Mr. B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday remarked that it is evident from past elections that those with money power are entering the Legislative Council.
Responding to a query from mediapersons at a press meet here, he said money power is playing a vital role in the recent past in polls to the Legislative Council from local bodies constituencies. As there is a triangular and multi-pronged contest in some constituencies, the BJP is confident of winning about 15 seats in the elections. The peoples’ anger against the Congress government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s lack of emphasis on power decentralisation would help BJP win more seats, the ex-CM opined.
The state government has declared a total of 135 taluks drought-hit but no funds have been released so for to take up drought relief work. Instead of utilising funds released from the Union government, the chief minister is spending time by criticising Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and the Centre. “This is not good for the development of the state. We will definitely cooperate with the chief minister for overall development of Karnataka,” Mr Yeddyurappa stated.
The BJP will make honest efforts to implement Kalasa-Banduri irrigation project and MPs of the state will meet the Prime Minister again in this regard, he said.
