I have my hands full: Lavanya Tripathi

Actress Lavanya Tripathi speaks about her upcoming films, rumours about turning down Baahubali 2 and more.

Lavanya Tripathi is busy with three Tollywood projects these days. “I am also going to sign another project soon and the shoot will start in March,” she says.

Things seem to be going quite well for the actress who’s back from a long break after the success of Bhale Bhale Magadivoy. “After my debut in Andala Rakshasi, many approached me with the same kind of roles. But I always wanted to try different characters, so I waited for a good role and then got Bhale Bhale Magadivoy,” she says.

The actress is now looking forward to her big release, Soggade Chinni Nayana, opposite Nagarjuna.“I play a traditional role in the film and mostly wear saris. I look completely different… A woman can be beautiful and sexy in a sari. I’m eagerly waiting for the film,” she says.

She adds that Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishnan encouraged her a lot while shooting for the film. “I got a lengthy dialogue and I was reading it over and over to remember it. When Ramya ma’am saw me she asked ‘Are you preparing for an IAS exam?’” laughs Lavanya.

She adds that both appreciated her work and that it was a good experience work with the two stars.

In her other film, Lachindeviki O Lukcundi, Lavanya says her character has three shades. “One is Ankalamma who scares people with her ferocious looks. The other two are normal... it’s a comedy thriller,” she says.

The two films are ready for release and the third one, with Allu Sirish, is still underway. “I am playing a college girl in it. I have a lot of scope for acting in this movie and I am trying to be natural,” says Lavanya.

When asked about reports that she has said no to Baahubali 2, she laughs and says, “Do you think I would do that? I do want to work with Rajamouli, even if it is in a backdrop. Those reports are not true.”

The actress says that Hyderabad is like her home. “I want to buy a house soon here. I have many friends from Tollywood and I like the food as well,” she adds.

“Hyderabad is a good place as people here speak different languages like English, Hindi and Telugu. In Chennai they speak mostly Tamil,” she says, adding that that’s another reason she likes the city.
