‘Namma Kalvi’ boon to school students

Digital solution to children who cannot attend classes during rain

Chennai: It’s a unique platform for the school students to keep a pace with their lessons. Aiming to provide a digital solution to the school children who could not attend classes on account of rains, the Chennai-based Namma Ooru Foundation has launched the “Namma Kalvi” project.

This unique system helps the children to make best with the available time by accessing digital books on their PCs or smartphones. Students of standards 6, 7 and 8 studying in both Tamil and English medium will benefit through this gesture.

According to P. Natarajan, founder and managing trustee, Namma Ooru Foundation, this digital initiative is being executed for the benefit the children outside classrooms.

“It will be very useful to the children in the current devastated scenario of Chennai and Tamil Nadu. Under the “Namma Kalvi” project, in collaboration with technology partner Classle Knowledge, children will get free access to text books accompanied by audio and video snippets,” he explained.

This would be a shot in the arm for several schools, NGOs, teaching communities and school children and as it facilitates the process of learning the syllabus on time for the examina-
tions.

“All you need is a device – PC and Smartphone, which needs to connect to Internet for downloading the resources once. By clicking our digital campus link http://clsl.in/cu you will be able to access the digital books,” Mr. Natarajan says. Namma Ooru Foundation has called upon volunteers to come forward to help complete the audio-digitalisation from their homes for the 9, 10, 11 and 12thstandards.
