Vellapally Natesan still hopes Election Commission will allot ‘folded hands’ to Bharat Dharma Jana Sena
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan hopes the Election Commission of India will recognise Bharat Dharma Jana Sena's folded hands symbol.
He told DC that his party symbol is 'a lady's folded hands adorned with bangles'. He feels that if the CPM and CPI can get their party symbols of hammer and sickle and ears of corn and sickle, respectively, then the BDJS can get the folded hands and the Congress its own hand symbol.
He was reacting to reports that the BDJS is unlikely to get folded hands symbol as per the complaint of KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran that its symbol is similar to the hand symbol, Vellapally feels that the controversy is unwarranted. He told DC that it's almost a month since he has registered his party's symbol before the Election Commission of India.
"I hope that we would get our symbol. If the CPM and CPI can get their respective symbols, we will also get our symbol. Sudheeran's doubts will not be shared by the common people," said Vellapally in his inimitable style.
He also said the Election Commission of India is most likely to invite him for the hearing this month itself. Sources also told DC that SNDP Yogam representatives had sent the details of their flag, symbol and party's name to the Election Commission on November 28.
