Sabarimala Sannidhanam: Modern hospital soon
Kochi: A full-fledged modern hospital that would function round the year would be constructed at Sannidhanam before the next pilgrimage season, said Mr K. Jayakumar, chairman of the high-power committee for the implementation of Sabarimala master plan, on Saturday.
“The modern hospital, a long-pending demand, will come in place of the existing NRHM facility that functions only during the two-month pilgrimage season. After its launch, doctors’ facility will be available throughout the year,” he said after the committee meeting at Pampa.

It was also decided to set up a waste treatment plant at Pampa on a war-footing,” the former chief secretary said.
A ‘Darsanam’ complex will be constructed in the open space at Pandithavalam for providing residential facilities to pilgrims. Battery-operated buggies will be plied for waste removal at Sannidhanam and nearby areas to control pollution.
A body scanner costing Rs 68 lakh will be set up to ensure safety of ‘bhandaram.’ A shelter for pilgrims will be constructed at Nilackal at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh, Mr Jayakumar said.
