Postpone civil service main exams: Karunanidhi to PM
Chennai: DMK chief Karunanidhi on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking to postpone the civil service main exams to be held on December 18 in view of the recent floods that marooned Chennai.
Fully endorsing a representation made by students of state-run All India Civil Service Training Centre to him on Friday, Karunanidhi said unprecedented rains and flood have affected the students of most parts of Chennai, Pondicherry and AP.
“If the exams are conducted as per the schedule announced by the UPSC, the aspirants from TN, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh will be facing an unequal competition, which is against natural justice and social justice as most of the students belong to socially and educationally backward classes,” Karunanidhi observed, appealing to the PM to personally intervene and postpone the exams by a few weeks so as to render equal justice to students from all the states. Karunanidhi also appealed to his party MLAs to donate a month’s salary for flood relief.
