Ranchi: A woman from Jharkhand who was employed as a maid at Ranchi’s Harmu Housing Colony killed a man after he entered her residence and raped her, police said on Friday.
The woman later surrendered before the Argora police.
In her statement, the woman said 24-year-old Manoj Kumar entered her residence in the wee hours of Wednesday and sexually assaulted her. However, she managed to pick up a hammer and hit Manoj repeatedly on his face.
After observing that he is dead, she locked the body inside and then went about her daily chores. She later in the midnight surrendered to the police. Police has recovered the body as well as the murder weapon. The woman was taken for a medical check-up, and then sent to police custody for further interrogation.
Observing that both Kumar and the woman hailed from Amba Toli village, Hatia DSP Prashant Anand said, “The police was enquiring whether the girl and the boy were acquainted to each other. We are also awaiting the medical test report.”
