Hand over Madrasa-e-Azam school to us: Prince of Arcot
Chennai: The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, has appealed to the Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, to hand over administration of Madrasa-e-Azam school to the Prince of Arcot Endowments.
The appeal has been made to help restore the school which is in ruins after the floods. The Government Madrasa-e-Azam Higher Secondary School for Boys on Anna Salai has completely caved in after the floods, and is left with six pillars that threaten to fall any moment.
He said such a state of affairs in a government-run school does not reflect well to the credit of the state government. He is ready to take over the management of the school if the State cannot spare funds for it.
The Prince of Arcot Endowments will take up reconstruction and management of the school, relieving the government of the responsibility. Due to the prevailing conditions, the students performance has been affected, he said. He said that already a sizeable portion of land, belonging to the school was acquired by the State for putting up Quid-e-Milleth Memorial.
