Digvijay goes to Rajnath on threat to Shabbir Ali

He demanded that the Congress leader be provided adequate security.
Hyderabad: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Saturday requested Union home minister Rajnath Singh to talk to the Telangana State government to ascertain the facts regarding the threat call made to Mr Shabbir Ali, Leader of the Opposition in the Council, and demanded that the Congress leader be provided adequate security.
In his letter Mr Digvijay Singh wrote to the home minister stating that though Mr Shabbir Ali had complained to the TS police, “We are not sure whether any action would be taken by the local police.”
In a related development, Mr Shabbir Ali speaking to the media on Saturday said he would not stop exposing Chief Minister K. Chandra-sekhar Rao’s misdeeds despite receiving a threatening call to kill him. “I am not afraid of death. I will continue my efforts in exposing the CM and TRS government’s anti-people policies and misdeeds,” he said.
Mr Shabbir Ali alleged that the timing of the threatening call on Friday led to the suspicion that TRS leaders were behind it.
“I addressed a press conference in the afternoon questioning the authority of panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao in laying the foundation stone for the 2BHK houses. I also criticised the CM for not making a representation to the Centre on farmers’ issues during his recent Delhi visit. Within a few hours, I received a call with the threat that I would be eliminated if I did not stop criticising the CM,” he said.
He was surprised that the Hyderabad city police did not contact him even after 18 hours of lodging a complaint on the issue
and said, “It has been almost 18 hours since I formally lodged a police complaint. But neither the police nor the state government officials contacted me to seek details or record my statement on the issue. They are behaving as if nothing has happened.”
