Chennai: In a bid to raise funds for the ongoing flood relief work in Chennai and Cuddalore, ‘ Agam Sei’, an upcoming startup of artists and architects from Chennai, is collaborating with the popular Craveyard Cafe and turn the spot into a launch pad for new artists and get funds.
Craveyard café turned a year old on Saturday as it completed a journey from being an abandoned house, left neglected on the streets, to a happening spot for students and professionals.
Throughout the month the cafe has been playing host to fund raising events to help those stranded in the floods. “We’re selling trendy t-shirts, fancy and hand-made jewels; all at low prices to accumulate money so that all of it could go for relief work. We are asking people to come and enjoy, encourage and help restore happiness,” said Reeveez Antony, founder of Agam Sei.
Encouraging new talent from the city has also been a facet of this café. This event is also open to artists who simply want to launch their work. Thirty per cent of the café’s collection this month would go towards the noble cause as well. “The rains are over, but it is up to the people to piece their broken lives together. You could go a long way in contributing by participating in these efforts,” said Harish Raghav, founder of Craveyard Cafe. “Already materials are being sent to Cuddalore with the funds that have been gathered and we are looking at more such help that can be sent”.
