Hyderabad: An auto driver was set ablaze by gangsters in broad daylight at a stone's throw from Jeedimetla police station on Saturday afternoon. The men poured petrol on the auto rickshaw and Hanumanth. Hanumanth suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and hospitalised while the vehicle was completely gutted. Police suspect his co-brother Srinivas was behind the attack. Hanumanth 38, was a native of Anantapur district.
He was staying along with his wife and two children in a rented house in Raavinarayana Reddy Nagar in Gajularamaram. Police said that, Saturday around 1.30pm, Hanumanth was driving his auto from Jeedimetla towards Chintal. In front of Ranga theatre, he was taking a U turn. “An unknown person suddenly came from behind and poured petrol on the vehicle and on Hanumanth and set them ablaze and fled the spot,” said Jeedimetla inspector Chandrashekar.
