‘Adi violated jurisdiction to help Shettar’
Ugrappa has claimed that Adi helped former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar
Bengaluru: Continuing his allegations against Upa Lokayukta Mr Subhash B Adi, state Congress spokesperson Mr V.S. Ugrappa has claimed that Mr Adi helped former Chief Minister Mr Jagadish Shettar by overstepping his jurisdiction and entering the domain of his colleague Mr S.B. Majage. Copies of complaint Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Mr Ugrappa released copies of a complaint filed by RTI activist Mr Mohan Beerappa Maligere on the alleged Rs 611 crore misappropriation in Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagar Palike.
Mr Maligere had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta alleging that there was misappropriation to the tune of Rs 661 crore in funds allotted to the Mahanagar Palike from 2008-13. Though Hubballi-Dharwad was under the jurisdiction of Mr Majage, Mr Adi took personal interest in handling the case, he said. He did not conduct any investigation and when the complainant raised a query, he merely referred the issue to the Hubballi-Dharwad Deputy Commissioner, asking him to initiate action.
After three months, the Deputy Commissioner sent a report saying that there was no misappropriation of funds, Mr Ugrappa said. Since Mr Adi was a classmate of Mr Shettar, he took special interest in the case and helped Mr Shettar by closing it. When the complaint was filed, Mr Shettar was the Chief Minister, Mr Ugrappa added.
