We will ‘ace’ polls: K T Rama Rao

TRS plans a ‘special’ manifesto for Hyderabad city.
Hyderabad: Panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday said the TRS would come out with a special manifesto for GHMC elections with clear-cut plans and programmes to transform Hyderabad into a global city within three years. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Mr Rama Rao expressed confidence that the TRS would bag the mayor’s seat with a comfortable majority.
“If you look at the series of victories recorded by the TRS in whatever elections held during the last 18 months, it is proved beyond doubt that the people of state are strongly rallying behind our party. We are confident of continuing this success streak even in the GHMC elections. The party will devise a separate manifesto for GHMC polls with focus on transforming Hyderabad into a global city,” he said.
Stating that the earlier governments in united AP treated Hyderabad only along “real estate lines” and never bothered to improve the civic facilities and living conditions in the city, Mr Rama Rao said the TRS was trying to make Hyderabad a “smart and safe city” with good communication, WiFi network and mapping every inch of city with CC cameras, besides a “slum-less city” by providing 2BHK houses to all the poor in the core areas of the city.
Highlighting the party’s priorities, he said, “The top most priority is to improve infrastructure facilities in city by constructing multi-level flyovers, skyways, multi-grade separators to ease traffic congestion on roads. Uninterrupted drinking water supply and proper drainage system would be other focus areas that would be addressed in the party’s manifesto.”
TPCC wants special session, targets KTR:
TS Congress leaders on Friday demanded the Chief Minister immediately convene a special session of the Legislature to discuss the drought situation and other people-related issues. Congress leaders Shabbir Ali, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Danam Nagender told reporters on the Assembly premises that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has highlight the severity of the drought during his two-day trip to Delhi.
“He deputed his two Deputy CMs to represent the Centre on the drought situation and both failed to get the PM’s appointment. Instead of leaving the issue to his deputies, it would have been appropriate that the CM used his Delhi trip to meet the PM,” they said. They said the Central teams which visited the state recently, admitted that TS was facing one of the worst-ever drought and demanded a special session so that the views of people’s representatives could be obtained by the government.
Mr Shabbir Ali said the Congress would move a Privilege Motion against panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao for violation of protocol in laying foundation stones for 2BHK houses in the city on Thursday.
TD gets Lokesh pep talk:
TD central committee general secretary Nara Lokesh on Friday asked the TS TD leaders, especially GHMC leaders to concentrate on the GHMC polls. He assured the leaders that both he and TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu would devote some time for electioneering.
In a meeting held at NTR Bhavan, the party headquarters, it was decided to appoint party in-charges for all the 24 Assembly segments that come under GHMC and also for 150 divisions immediately.
Division-wise party meetings and coordination meetings with alliance partner BJP would be organised. Mr Naidu, who will be available in the city from December 17 to 22 in connection with the AP Legislature session, would also meet the TS TD leaders district-wise to review the party activities.
TD TD working president A. Revanth Reddy said, “We will organise a meeting of party workers from all the Assembly segments in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.”
