Suresh Prabhu ensures milk for kid on train
Lucknow: In a rare show of compassion and promptness, Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu responded to a tweet and ensured that milk was provided to a child travelling on a train that had been inordinately delayed.
The child, Avish, 5, was travelling with his mother Kusum on the Manduadih (Varanasi) New Delhi Super Fast Express on Thursday which got delayed due to dense fog.
The boy’s father Satyendra Yadav, who lives in Delhi, tweeted to Mr Prabhu seeking help for his child who was hungry after milk ran out due to the train running behind schedule.
The minister responded to the tweet and directed the Divisional Railway Manager of Allahabad to take action in the case.
The station master of Fatehpur station provided the family with food when the train arrived at the station. When the train arrived at Kanpur Station later in the day, railway authorities were waiting with milk and biscuits for the child.
The boy’s mother later thanked the minister for his response and gesture. In an earlier incident last week, a woman travelling alone in a train in Maharashtra was immediately helped out to by authorities after she sought help through a tweet directed to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. She had complained of harassment by a male passenger.
