Solar panel blasts cops, ‘media circus’

The Commission has planned for a “very secret operation” to seize CDs said to be held by Radhakrishnan.

KOCHI: The one man judicial commission headed by Justice G Sivarajan has blasted the media and the police department for converting the evidence collection from Biju Radhakrishnan in to a ‘media circus.’ The Commission has planned for a “very secret operation” to seize CDs said to be held by Radhakrishnan.

“The over enthusiasm of the media has botched up the entire operation”, Justice Sivajarajan observed during the hearing on Friday.

The commission has also blamed the jail authorities for the delay in presenting Radhakrishnan before the commission. “If he was produced before the commission earlier the process of evidence collection could have been faster”, the commission observed.

Radhakrishnan, one of the prime accused in the case and convicted for killing his wife, meanwhile iterated that he stands firm on his earlier statement regarding existence of footage involving CM Oommen Chandy and few other prominent persons in a compromising position with Sarita Nair.

The bag containing the CD was handed over to Selvi two and half years ago, he told the commission. “If I was a thief and m-urderer why the CM decided to meet me,” he asked during the deposition.

Radhakrishnan has also called for polygraph test of all key persons involved in the solar scandal. He claimed to posses the evidence and sought one more opportunity for presenting the same before the commission. But the commission declined to give him a formal opportunity in this regard and observed that it would consider the evidence if it was produced within two or three weeks. The commission said there was no need for a separate order in this regard.

The commission has also not accepted the application by Radhakrishnan that he should be given an opportunity to directly pose questions to Sarita Nair when she appears before the commission.

Radhakrishnan came back empty handed from Coimbatore on Thursday after the commission had sent him along with officials to recover the CD allegedly entrusted with a family residing there.
