PM meeting Cabinet at airport insult: Pinarayi Vijayan

Mr Pinarayi said the Prime Minister's attitude was insulting to the people of the state.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has slammed Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for his failure to give a fitting reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for asking the Cabinet to meet him at airport technical area.

In a Facebook post, Mr Pinarayi said the Prime Minister's attitude was insulting to the people of the state. “It is deplorable on his first visit to the state after becoming the Prime Minister, Modi wants the Cabinet to meet him at the technical area of airport.”

Mr Pinarayi said during Modi’s visit to state on December 14 and 15, the PM has enough time to attend a reception at Kochi, inspect a guard of honour and hop on to a helicopter to reach Thrissur for BJP public meeting. However, despite being in the state for 48 hours, he finds it difficult to hold a meeting at a proper venue.

He said that the Centre was not the landlord nor the states mere slaves. Be it the Central government or the PM, federal structure of the legislature had to be followed and the CM was showing his servitude toward the BJP and Centre.
