Notices to state, centre on Nambi Narayanan’s plea
The three are former ADGP Siby Mathew, and former SPs K. K. Joshua and S.Viajyan.
Kochi: Kerala High Court on Friday issued notices to state and central governments on a petition filed by former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan seeking to quash National Human Rights Commission order which dropped proceedings against three police officials who initially probed ISRO espionage case.
Nambi Narayanan challenged the communication issued by the NHRC closing further actions on the basis of a High Court order that no further action need to be taken by the government.
The court had also observed that all three officers have retired and no disciplinary proceedings could be taken against them. The three are former ADGP Siby Mathew, and former SPs K. K. Joshua and S.Viajyan.
The NHRC action is illegal because the High Court was dealing with a government order deciding not to take action against the erring officials in spite of the recommendation of the CBI. It is premature on the part of the NHRC to order such an action, the petition said.
