Kakinada: Five persons, including an elderly couple, drowned on Saturday when the car in which they were travelling to Yanam in Puducherry, lost control and fell into the Gautami river near here, police said.
The incident took place in the early hours near Dariyalatippa at Yanam outskirts, they said.
The deceased were identified as Koppada Sathiraju (70), his wife Dhanalaxmi (64) Parvathi (40) Rishita (7) and Anshita (5).
Another person identified as Pavankumar has gone 'missing' and feared drowned as he has not been traced so far, police added.
