Congress goes all out against Jacob Thomas
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress seems to have launched a massive counter attack against DGP Jacob Thomas for continuously putting the government on the defensive.
While the party mouthpiece has prescribed a shock treatment for him, KPCC leadership levelled charges of corruption.
KPCC vice-president M. M. Hassan said the vigilance and finance department probes were progressing against him in connection with the financial irregularities while heading Ports and Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation.
“Mr Thomas's speeches against corruption could be seen only as the devil giving advice,” said Mr Hassan.
The editorial in Veekshanam suggesting his ouster alleged that he was criticising the government for not getting the posting he wanted and that he had political ambitions.
“Though he is holding a DGP post, he behaves like an Opposition leader. He has a hidden agenda of exiting from the service as a martyr,” said the editorial.
“He also dreams of getting the blessings of left parties in the form of a seat in the next elections." It said instead of issuing show cause notices he should be tied and flogged.
“He should be taken to Oolampara or Kuthiravattom (mental hospitals) and given a shock treatment,” it said. “Why should the government retain such a guy who carries anti-government statements in one pocket and a sellotape on the other?”
